Essex County Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Estates to join our esteemed Senior Leadership Team.

This pivotal role demands strategic leadership in all aspects of estate management, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our vast property portfolio. You will be entrusted with providing expert advice and recommendations to senior leaders, elected officials, and relevant committees on all matters pertaining to estate services and functions.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Alignment & Partnerships: Collaborate with key stakeholders to align estate strategies with the Council's overarching goals. Foster robust partnerships with external organizations, such as the Health Alliance and One Public Estate, to maximize shared resources and enhance service delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Champion a culture of continuous improvement across all estate operations. Actively explore opportunities for collaboration with partners in health, local government, and beyond to drive cost efficiencies and optimize performance.
  • Team Leadership & Resource Management: Provide exceptional leadership to your team, fostering a high-performing environment that prioritizes development, well-being, and professional growth. Effectively manage resources to ensure optimal utilization and financial accountability.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive estate strategies that align with the Council's long-term vision. Oversee the execution of these plans, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
