About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker to join our Special School Nursing Team. The successful candidate will work primarily in Henry Tyndale School, Farnborough, providing specialist support to children and young people with complex health conditions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified staff in the provision of care as detailed in individual care plans.
  • Develop rapport with patients and treat all patients, carers, and staff with dignity and respect.
  • Work with nursing staff, multi-disciplinary teams, and other allied health professionals.
  • Actively participate in team handovers and provide verbal reports as required.
  • Use interpersonal and communication skills to de-escalate and reduce aggressive behavior if encountered from patients and carers.
  • Implement agreed standards of care provision in line with local Ward/Unit/community and Trust policies.
  • Respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality, and spiritual beliefs of all patients.
  • Make appropriate objective written entries in patient records for validation by qualified staff.
  • Seek feedback from patients to inform qualified staff and enable the development of services.
  • Be aware of own limitations and seek support when needed, maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
  • Collect specimens, including body fluids, phlebotomy blood, and urine samples.

About Us

We are working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together community, mental health, and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. The new Trust will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.

Essential Qualifications

  • Healthcare Qualification Level 2, 3, or working towards gaining equivalent level.
  • Good basic education or GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
