Job Purpose:
The Cleaning Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective provision of cleaning services and related activities, ensuring they are executed through both direct personnel and external contractors.
This role involves motivating team members to achieve their maximum potential while ensuring that the quality of work meets contractual standards and actively contributing to the ongoing enhancement of services. The supervisor will play a key role in fulfilling designated responsibilities and will consistently approach tasks with a positive leadership style. Principal Accountabilities:People Management
Supervise the cleaning team, fostering a culture of high engagement and alignment with overall organizational objectives. Assist the Line Manager in adhering to company policies and procedures, which include recruitment, staff scheduling, performance management, absence management, training, development, and payroll. Conduct regular team meetings with direct reports to facilitate open communication regarding service delivery, resources, health and safety, and more. Supply Chain Oversight Evaluate the performance of subcontractors while they are on-site. Financial Management Manage stock control effectively. Customer Relations Collaborate with client activities and attend client meetings when necessary. Work collaboratively with all stakeholders and colleagues to foster a partnership approach. Performance Monitoring Collect data for monthly KPI/SLA reports as required. Engage in audit programs and inspections. Innovation Development Generate innovative cleaning ideas to improve and/or modify the working environment. Service Delivery Management Ensure the implementation and maintenance of procedures and systems necessary for delivering comprehensive cleaning services across our sites. Plan, prepare, and execute tasks within the scope of contracts. Report any service deficiencies to the Line Manager. Monitor and manage the servicing and maintenance requirements for all cleaning machinery and equipment. Respond promptly to work requests received. Provide proactive updates on work activities. Assist in managing team resources to ensure adequate coverage for holidays and absences, guaranteeing uninterrupted service delivery. Health and Safety Compliance Maintain and monitor staff training records and deliver Health and Safety Toolbox Talks. Regularly update and record COSHH materials. Ensure adherence to agreed Risk Assessments and Method Statements for cleaning tasks. Confirm that all staff have the necessary PPE to perform their duties and conduct regular audits. Ensure that appropriate governance is in place, enabling all employees to work safely and in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.Person Specification
Skills: A motivated, confident, and capable individual is required to lead the cleaning teams. The candidate will cover the period from 09:00 to 15:00 before the main cleaning staff commence their shifts. The successful applicant will be able to direct staff and the afternoon/evening supervisor in their daily tasks. Must be able to work independently and be self-driven. Proficient in IT. Strong communication skills (both written and spoken) to ensure staff safety. A positive leadership approach is essential. Flexibility to adapt to service needs.Desirable Qualifications
Experience in the cleaning industry at a supervisory level or higher. Experience in people/team supervision. IOSH Working Safely certification. Any recognized industry training or qualifications.Benefits
