The Role
We are seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's internal and external estate. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining a well-decorated, safe, and comfortable environment throughout the site, in line with quality standards.
- Ensuring that Priory minimum standards are delivered in all site areas in a timely and efficient manner, as part of a team.
- Identifying and reporting damage, faults, and other related issues to the Head of Facilities (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.
- Carrying out General Maintenance tasks.
- Carrying out compliance testing (i.e., fire alarms, bed inspections, vehicle checks) as delegated by the Head of Facilities.
- Providing a security service, maintaining the security and integrity of the building as well as the safety of its occupants.
- Undertaking regular internal and external patrols of the unit and its grounds, ensuring that all the windows and doors are closed and locked as appropriate to the time of day.
- Maintaining an accurate record of all incidents and suspicious activities.
- To be aware of and comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act, (encompassing risk assessments, method statements, and Permits to Work), associated acts, and subordinate regulations to minimize risk.
- Responsible for ensuring that any attempts at works or projects are within the individual's capabilities and should not expose themselves or others to risk.
- Carrying out such other duties relating to the work of the department as required by Management.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience of working in inpatient mental health services or a similar role would be desirable but is not essential.
- Driving is an essential part of the role, and the successful candidate will need to hold a full UK/EEC/EU manual driver's license for over 3 years with less than 6 points.
