Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Respiratory Medicine to join our dynamic team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Respiratory department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our services.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Respiratory Medicine, you will be expected to:

  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, airways disease, sleep disorders, and interstitial lung disease.
  • Lead and manage clinical teams, including junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of our Respiratory department, including service redesign and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A medical qualification and registration with the GMC.
  • Experience in Respiratory Medicine, including lung cancer, airways disease, sleep disorders, and interstitial lung disease.
  • Leadership and management skills, including experience of leading clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement.
