SEND Specialist Tutor Job Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to deliver high-quality, 1:1 tuition to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the Bideford area.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and creative tutor who can provide bespoke education packages to support children and young people with SEND. Many of these individuals have struggled to access mainstream education due to their needs not being sufficiently met.

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will work closely with Prospero Teaching to create, plan, and deliver tailored lessons that bridge gaps in the pupil's education and boost attainment levels. Your aim will be to support and re-engage the pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, and continue their educational development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition to young people with SEND in the Bideford area
  • Create and plan bespoke education packages to meet the individual needs of each pupil
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress to Prospero Teaching
  • Work collaboratively with Prospero Teaching to ensure the best possible outcomes for each pupil

Requirements

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • UK classroom teaching experience
  • PECS/Makaton training preferred but not essential
  • Ability to think creatively and work with challenging behaviour
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service
