Our operations include a members' rugby club and a vibrant venue business. As we look to the future, we seek an experienced marketing professional to guide our strategic direction.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are in search of a proactive Lead Marketing Strategist to spearhead the transformation of our brand identity, design and implement creative marketing initiatives, enhance our audience engagement, and elevate our events portfolio. This position is vital in ensuring Richmond Rugby remains appealing and relevant to emerging generations of fans and patrons.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be adept at crafting marketing campaigns, engaging with stakeholders across the organization, and presenting innovative ideas to achieve outstanding results. You will establish high-performance benchmarks for your team and ensure clarity in plans, timelines, and expectations for delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Brand Stewardship

  • Guide and cultivate the narrative of Richmond Rugby, ensuring our brand and identity resonate with younger audiences while honoring our historical significance.
  • Oversee the visual representation of the club's assets for both Richmond Rugby and the Richmond Athletic Ground.

Strategic Marketing

  • Direct the formulation and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy for the club, focusing on key events such as match days, international fixtures, corporate festivals, and community outreach.
  • Accountable for achieving ambitious growth targets in ticket sales, memberships, retail, hospitality, and event programming.
  • Identify external opportunities to enhance club visibility and promote event success.

Data-Driven Insights

  • Lead the development of the club's customer relationship management (CRM) strategy to boost fan engagement and expand our database.
  • Analyze our database to uncover revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and campaign requirements.

Digital Engagement

  • Oversee and refine the club's social media strategy to effectively engage current fans and attract new followers.
  • Drive growth across our digital platforms and enhance our online presence.
  • Collaborate with communications and rugby teams to produce compelling content that draws in new audiences.
  • Utilize pay-per-click (PPC) and social media advertising to boost sales, monitor effectiveness, and report on return on ad spend (ROAS).
  • Evaluate the current website platform, explore alternatives, and present recommendations for improvement.

Community Engagement

  • Support and promote the club's role within the community, encouraging participation in local initiatives.

Operational Management

  • Develop and manage marketing calendars, newsletters, and promotional materials to meet engagement objectives.
  • Become proficient in our membership management system and ensure the team is adequately trained.
  • Oversee the marketing budget throughout the year, ensuring alignment with the club's financial objectives.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • 3-5 years of marketing experience, preferably in sports or sponsorship, with a proven record of driving customer growth and event success.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft and communicate brand narratives effectively.
  • Experience in managing external agencies and partnerships.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences through writing and presentations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of database management and CRM systems.
