Job Title: Practice Development Coordinator

At the Martin James Foundation, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Development Coordinator to join our team. This is a hybrid role that requires a unique blend of skills, experience, and passion for fostering services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain our learning resource library, ensuring it remains up-to-date and relevant.
  • Facilitate international Community of Practice sessions, promoting active participation and contributions from affiliates and partners.
  • Collaborate with teams in affiliated organisations to secure and engage in research projects related to specialist areas of expertise.
  • Disseminate examples of best practice and new initiatives within the Foundation and across affiliated organisations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of practice resources by learning from affiliated teams.
  • Support the work of partner organisations on global projects.
  • Maintain accurate contact records when engaging with project partners.
  • Contribute to monthly practice development reports to the CEO and quarterly reports to the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Communications and Campaigns on external communications and reports.
  • Maintain regular communications with partners to build professional relationships and support their work.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Social Work or a relevant subject.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of fostering services.
  • Knowledge of international laws and guidelines related to the care of children.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training materials.
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding practice.
  • An understanding of the needs of children and young people living in alternative care.
  • Demonstrable understanding and awareness of cultural and contextual diversity.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency setting.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent stakeholder and internal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilise research and evidence-based learning to inform best practice.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to problem solve independently.
  • Able to work at pace and adapt to different situations.
  • Strong organisational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Able to evidence practical application of the use of IT.

  • An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
