Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at A.D.S Construction Personnel Ltd. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, working on new build and refurbishment projects across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for new build and refurbishment projects in commercial, education, industrial, and leisure sectors.
  • Manage pre-qualification, quality, and pre-bid submissions.
  • Collaborate with the bid team to develop competitive and compelling tender submissions.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to embed a relationship culture and obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favourable terms.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with construction projects, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain organised and comprehensive documentation of all estimating activities.
  • Identify opportunities to add value throughout the project process.
  • Work closely with the Managing Estimator and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Support junior members of the estimating, surveying, and pre-construction team.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Experience of pricing projects – both single and two-stage tenders and negotiated opportunities.
  • Proficient in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain estimates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering work-winning competitive tenders.
  • Taking off experience required.
  • Car driver.
