Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel. As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the operation of existing generating assets and the development of new projects for both tidal and battery energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with existing consent conditions and regulations, and maintain project Consent registers for all projects as appropriate to their stage of development.
  • Project Coordination: Undertake the role and responsibilities of the Project's Environmental Coordinator of Work and act as Point of Contact with the Marine Directorate, reviewing, auditing, and generating project documents prescribed in Section 36 and Marine Licence consent conditions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop collaborative working relationships and information exchange with relevant stakeholders to support continued improvement of environmental risks and impacts posed by project activities.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management: Support the management of Health, Safety & Environmental risks across all operating locations, and attend marine works aboard Offshore Construction Vessels for the installation and recovery of tidal turbines as Environmental Coordinator of Work in support of the O&M Manager.
  • Project Development: Support project development across the portfolio, including Tidal Stream and BESS, and assist in the submission of consent applications for BESS projects in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Requirements
  • Education: Education to degree level in a relevant discipline, with a second degree and/or practical experience being advantageous.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of consent processes and legislation relevant to project activities in the UK, BESS & Tidal Array, and familiarity with statutory reports for Section 36 and Marine Licences.
  • Personal Qualities: A desire to deliver a renewable and sustainable energy industry considerate of environmental impact and stakeholder engagement, with clear and concise written and oral communication skills, and an attention to detail and proficiency in writing procedures and quality documentation.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team consisting of employees and contractors, with a proactive approach to working and learning, and a willingness to work within a dynamic working environment, responding to changing immediate demands to deliver project objectives.
