Clinical Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Technologist (Radiotherapy) to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Radiotherapy Physics services to the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre, ensuring that patients receive safe, accurate, and efficient treatment using modern techniques and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IRR and IR(ME)R, as well as experience working as an RT technologist. They will also possess excellent communication skills and be able to manage their own work and project work effectively.
The role will involve contributing to the services provided across the department, including treatment plan checking and QC of various pieces of equipment. The successful applicant will also be responsible for delivering presentations or tutorials as required.
About the RoleThis is a fixed-term post until September 2027, and the successful candidate will be required to work some Saturdays. The team is part of the larger physics department, and we work together in a friendly and supportive way to deliver an excellent service.
The radiotherapy service at Cheltenham combines a team of physicists, technologists, engineers, radiographers, and clinicians to plan and deliver treatments. We deliver radiotherapy to patients across Gloucestershire using Varian linacs, an Xstrahl superficial unit, an Elekta Flexitron HDR afterloader, and a Canon CT scanner.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Radiotherapy Physics services to the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre
- Contribute to the services provided across the department, including treatment plan checking and QC of various pieces of equipment
- Deliver presentations or tutorials as required
- Manage own work and project work effectively
- Appropriate experience working as RT technologist
- BSc Physics
- MSc related to medical physics
- Understanding of IRR and IR(ME)R
- Appropriate experience in Radiotherapy
- Good knowledge of Microsoft packages, including spreadsheets
- Ability to manage own work and project work
- HCPC Registered Clinical technologist
- Ability to deliver presentations or tutorials
