About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Fundraising team as Head of Proposition Development. This is a critical role in our Fundraising Growth programme, which aims to strengthen and scale fundraising capabilities across the National Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a small team focused on creating innovative fundraising propositions for high-value audiences, including Corporations, Major Donors, Grant Makers, and Trusts & Foundations.
  • Work closely with existing resource in our core fundraising teams to share learnings and build new processes for efficient and effective proposition development.
  • Establish a strategic approach to proposition development, working with senior leaders to understand funding opportunities and donor motivations.
  • Develop and implement best practices in fundraising proposition development, drawing on internal and external expertise.
  • Play a key role in helping the National Trust to develop its capabilities for insight-led propositions, simplifying and reducing 'time to market'.
  • Engage with project, programme, and finance teams to influence ways of working and embed propositions.
  • Provide coaching and training to colleagues within fundraising and beyond, creating a community of practice for proposition development.
Requirements
  • Experience of developing creative, insight-led proposals and propositions for high-value audiences.
  • Experience of managing and leading a high-performing team in proposal or proposition development.
  • Experience of building relationships across organisational boundaries and navigating conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously using project management processes and tools.
  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to interpret complex content into engaging content.
  • Experience of working with design capability and developing creative funding packages and propositions.
  • Passion for fundraising and a strong desire to advance the charitable mission of the National Trust.
  • Experience of the UK Charity Sector and in-depth knowledge of fundraising with understanding of donor motivations and interests.
