Ryde Farm Estate Groundsman Job Description

Ryde Farm Estate, a premier 2000-acre private estate in Surrey, is seeking a skilled Groundsman to join its team. As a Groundsman, you will be responsible for maintaining the estate's immaculate grounds, ensuring a high standard of presentation and tidiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain lawns and daily grounds maintenance, including mowing, hedge trimming, feeding, and weeding as necessary.
  • Collect leaves and gardening team arisings to ensure the estate grounds are always immaculate.
  • Perform hedge cutting and maintenance of shrubs and shrubbery beds.
  • Hold a chainsaw ticket and adhere to all appropriate health and safety laws.
  • Assist in planting and caring for all plants, including shrubs and trees.
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
  • Assist in annual orchard pruning and woodland flailing.
  • Collaborate with the principal, Estate Manager, and Head Gardener to arrange a program of work.
  • Maintain a high standard of tidiness and cleanliness of tools and shed to ensure biosecurity of the site.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety laws.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in groundskeeping or a similar role, preferably within a large private estate or similar setting.
  • Competency in operating landscaping equipment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual tasks all day, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of pride in maintaining high standards of estate presentation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license is essential; certifications in spraying (PA1/PA6AW), chainsaw ticket, first aid, and health and safety are highly desirable.
