Working to support our remarkable National Park allows you to operate from one of the most picturesque regions of Wales and the UK, engaging in a diverse array of projects and initiatives.
With historical and protected structures dating back to the Norman era, 186 miles of coastline, and a vibrant community of over 20,000 residents, this role offers an exciting challenge.
The RoleAs an Urban Planning Specialist, you will engage in various planning activities for our National Park, focusing on either Development Management or Strategic Policy.
Depending on your area of expertise, you may be involved in formulating planning policies related to transport, coastal management, flood risk, and economic development, or you will assess all types of planning applications and proposals.
In the realm of strategic planning, you will collaborate with a small team to oversee our development plan and supplementary planning guidance, including Welsh language management policies for the Park.
Joining the Development Management Team, you will support the statutory local planning function, ensuring that developments align with our mission and managing planning casework. You will also conduct initial site inspections and liaise with applicants and stakeholders.
Regardless of your specialization, you will also:
- Provide planning policy advice and support
- Prepare, present, justify, and recommend strategies, policies, and guidance for development
To be considered for the role of Urban Planning Specialist, you will need:
- Experience in a planning department, whether in public service or private practice
- Current knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in planning
- A professional planning qualification at degree or diploma level
- Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- A valid driving license
