Role Overview:

The Technical Project Manager will be instrumental in executing complex, cross-functional technology initiatives that enhance our operations and improve customer service. This role involves collaboration with Product, Engineering, and business teams to ensure timely delivery of valuable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage programs with various business and technical risks that are crucial to achieving Tesco's strategic objectives.
  • Oversee development resources, guide technical direction, and coordinate the creation of technology and business-facing products.
  • Define and monitor performance metrics aligned with customer and business goals.
  • Identify and manage risks and issues while influencing multiple interdependent teams.
  • Establish and refine delivery methodologies to meet program objectives.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive plan for program execution, including technical implementation and stakeholder communication.
  • Assess trade-offs in delivery and use influencing skills to reach consensus among Business, Technology, and Engineering teams.
  • Anticipate potential risks and issues, facilitate discussions, and manage escalations effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate new trends and concepts into program and product delivery.
  • Possess a strong understanding of technical architecture to foresee impacts on dependencies and timelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of System, Software, and Data engineering best practices to navigate delivery challenges.
  • Manage major incidents efficiently, ensuring stakeholders receive timely and relevant updates.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define annual budgetary needs.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and external stakeholders to deliver software and services.
  • Mentor peers and other roles on methodologies and program management tools.
  • Participate actively in the recruitment process and contribute to final hiring decisions.
  • Lead other Technical Project Managers and integrate their plans into broader program strategies.
  • Engage in the TPM community to influence capability and capacity planning.
  • Utilize documentation and presentations to align Technology and Finance stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in Agile methodologies with a proven track record of fostering positive change within teams.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex technology projects across multiple teams while influencing product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to conceptualize solutions across various platforms.
  • Skilled in articulating complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Experience in building credible relationships and influencing senior management and leadership teams.
