Position Overview

Location: Totnes, Devon

  • Compensation: £12.44 per hour / £25,964.07 annually
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours during summer, 35.5 hours in winter
  • Summer Hours (April to September): Weekdays 08:45 - 17:15 & Weekends 09:45 - 18:15
  • Winter Hours (October to March): Weekdays 08:45 - 16:45 & Weekends 09:45 - 16:45
  • Rest Days: To be discussed during the interview
  • Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided

Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass:

  • Documenting shift logs and delivering daily performance feedback to teams.
  • Conducting toolbox talks to ensure safe operational practices and disseminating safety alerts.
  • Supporting supervisors with weekly evaluations, action plans, and monitoring corrective measures.
  • Assisting in employee onboarding, briefings, and training sessions.
  • Collaborating with supervisors on daily employee performance management.
  • Maximizing the segregation of recyclable materials at the facility.
  • Encouraging a workplace culture that prioritizes health and safety.
  • Ensuring that all equipment is utilized and maintained safely, with prompt reporting of any defects and upholding high standards of cleanliness.
  • Conducting 5's audits and Safety, Integrity, and Management (SIM) observations to promote a culture of safety and efficiency on site.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven and capable of working collaboratively within a team. This position is perfect for individuals eager to gain experience in a frontline management capacity and looking to enhance their interpersonal skills.

Essential qualifications include:

  • A flexible work ethic, with the willingness to cover shifts and work overtime as necessary.
  • Possession of, or the commitment to obtain, the IOSH Managing Safely Qualification.
