Financial Planning & Analysis Assistant

The Financial Planning & Analysis Assistant role is positioned within the dynamic Levy sector of Compass Group, reporting directly to the Sector Analyst. This role involves consolidation, reporting, and analysis for the Finance Director and Heads of Finance.

As a Financial Planning & Analysis Assistant in our Levy sector, you will be based in our Birmingham office with the flexibility to work from home on occasion. You will leverage your skills to maintain a high standard of quality work. The Financial Planning & Analysis Assistant will provide business support to the central overhead functions within Levy, consolidating the flash reports, P&L, and Balance Sheet reporting requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the preparation of essential business reports, including month-end reports, weekly flash reports, budgets, and other ad-hoc analyses.
  • Consolidating weekly flash reports and championing the new Quicksight flash process.
  • Conducting monthly balance sheet reviews for central Levy and escalating key risks and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
  • Preparing the Levy Balance Sheet/Dashboard by consolidating submissions from sub-sectors.
  • Promoting working capital improvements by supporting timely invoice processing.
  • Providing financial support to the Levy central overhead functions, including month-end adjustments, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Offering transactional support to the central overhead team with invoice processing, supplier account creation, IT equipment capex, etc.
  • Managing the Levy finance query inbox.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all colleagues within the business and reporting any incidents through the approved company processes.
The ideal Financial Planning & Analysis Assistant will possess:
  • Experience in management accounting, including accounting adjustments.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in business partnering with non-financial professionals to deliver accurate financial information.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and logically.
  • Initiative and innovative thinking.
Desirable attributes include:
  • Actively pursuing qualifications in CIMA/ACCA/ACA or similar, with substantial experience in accounting roles.
  • Adaptability to a changing environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Cognos, and QuickSight as analysis and reporting tools.
