We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to become part of our dedicated team within the West Sussex Care Delivery Service on a fixed-term basis. This position is situated in a specialized ward that provides essential in-patient care and treatment for adults.

This role includes a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, alongside a potential relocation allowance of up to £8000. The Recruitment and Retention payment is structured as follows:

  • £5000 upon appointment
  • £5000 at the 12-month mark of employment
  • £6500 at the 30-month mark of employment
  • £8500 at the 48-month mark of employment
Please note that this payment is pro rata for part-time positions. For further details regarding the Recruitment and Retention Payment and/or the Relocation Allowance, please reach out to our Medical Staffing Team.

Key Responsibilities
As a consultant psychiatrist, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care to patients admitted to the ward. You will also engage with other acute in-patient services and local community teams. This position offers opportunities to support research, development, medical education, or to pursue special interests. Team Collaboration
You will be integrated into a supportive and friendly multidisciplinary team, which includes Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and more. For comprehensive details regarding the role, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of appointment
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Strong knowledge in the specialty
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice
  • Extensive specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or a comparable service
