Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom St Andrew's Healthcare Full time

Overview of the Position

Ideal for a seasoned Consultant or an individual nearing the completion of their CCT within the next six months.

Employment Type: Full Time (flexible arrangements including part-time will be considered)

Compensation: Comprehensive package up to £150,000 based on experience

We seek a professional eager to engage with individuals diagnosed with autism within our dedicated transition service.

St Andrew's Healthcare operates as a charitable organization, reinvesting any surplus back into our services. We are affiliated with the Specialist Provider Collaboratives in the East and West Midlands and are a proud member of the East Midlands Alliance. Our facilities in Northampton, set within over 150 acres of natural surroundings, encompass five divisions: Medium Secure, Low Secure, Specialist Rehabilitation, Learning Disability and Autism, Neuropsychiatry, and CAMHS. We offer a range of unique national services, including our Deaf Forensic Service, Huntington's Service, Secure Brain Injury Service, Older Adults Secure Services, Blended Women's Service (one of three National Pilots), and a specialized inpatient DBT service.

Make a meaningful impact for yourself and your patients.

We are looking for an individual who desires a role that provides the autonomy to make decisions aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes, and who is passionate about transforming mental health services. This position is ideal for someone wishing to join an organization and lead a team that shares this vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunities for career advancement; many of our senior medical leaders began their journey as Consultants within the charity.
  • Support from a Specialty Doctor and Physical Healthcare team.
  • Infrequent non-resident second on-call duties with 24-hour first on-call support.
  • We have sponsored several of our doctors to pursue MBA qualifications.
  • Join a community of over 30 Consultants and 8 Clinical Directors on-site, participating in a weekly multidisciplinary CPD and Grand Rounds program that includes NHS colleagues.
  • Pathways to advance into roles such as Medical Director, Clinical Director, Associate Director of Medical Education, Chief Quality Officer, or Lead Psychiatrist within the same location.
  • Assistance in pursuing indemnified private practice and medicolegal work through our community partnerships.
  • Potential for joint roles with the NHS in select areas.
  • Teaching opportunities for medical students from Cambridge and Buckingham, as well as Trainees.
  • Opportunities for research collaboration with our Research and Innovation Team.
  • Access to leading analytics and data monitoring with extensive integration into our Electronic Records.
  • Electronic Prescribing available across all wards.
  • £1000 dedicated study allowance.
  • Centrally located in the UK with excellent transport links to major cities, alongside access to quality schools and affordable housing.
  • Support and mentorship from a Clinical Director, Lead Psychiatrist, and fellow Consultants, as well as a dedicated Specialty doctor and administrative team.

About the Role

The Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service in Northampton presents an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to enhance their expertise within autism services while also developing research and clinical initiatives. We are dedicated to facilitating patient transitions into the community as swiftly as possible, which includes several tailored properties on-site for individuals moving from hospital to community settings. Your caseload may involve working with these patients to assist in their preparation for this transition.

If you aspire to be part of an innovative and dynamic team, capable of developing and implementing contemporary treatment methodologies in a supportive environment, this is the right opportunity for you. The post-holder will have the flexibility to engage in non-clinical activities of interest, including research, teaching, governance, and management, while influencing service direction to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee the management of patients with complex needs. This role allows for the promotion of innovation and service improvement, with opportunities to develop your specialized interests and expand your responsibilities. You will have an office and the support of an Associate Specialist as ward doctor, along with a full MDT, including Clinical Administrators and Personal Assistants dedicated to your wards and service.

Additional Benefits

Benefits include a travel allowance, £1000 annual study allowance, pension scheme, 33 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, free parking, a sickness policy aligned with NHS standards, secretarial support, and more.

International Medical Graduates

We welcome applications from candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK, and you will be considered alongside all other applicants.
