Bioinformatics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Specialist to join our Data Sciences team at Engitix. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Translational Biology team to develop and implement advanced bioinformatics tools and techniques for biomarker discovery in fibrotic liver diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Scientists and External Partners: Partner with Engitix scientists and external collaborators to design and implement analysis plans, and deliver actionable biological insights and visualizations.
- Develop and Refine Analysis Pipelines: Establish, test, and improve analysis pipelines to ensure data and analytics integrity through best practices in FAIR data, reproducibility, and documentation.
- Integrate and Analyze High-Dimensional Data: Develop innovative analytical approaches and analysis plans integrating, analyzing, and interpreting high-dimensional multimodal datasets.
- Ensure Data Integrity and Quality: Ensure data and analytics integrity through best practices in FAIR data, reproducibility, and documentation.
- Postgraduate Degree in Bioinformatics or Equivalent: A postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or equivalent.
- Strong Programming Skills: Strong programming/scripting skills in R and/or Python.
- Experience in Bulk Transcriptomics Analysis: Previous experience of performing bulk transcriptomics analysis and at least one of the following: scRNAseq and/or spatial transcriptomics, molecular imaging, including spatial proteomics, quantitative proteomics, including familiarity with mass spectrometry technologies (e.g., LFQ and TMT), multi-omics and data integration.
- Foundational Skills in Statistics and Machine Learning: Foundational skills in statistics and/or machine learning, including experience with methods such as survival analysis, regression analysis, dimensionality reduction, classification, and clustering.
- Experience Working in a Cross-Functional Team: Experience working in a cross-functional team in Oncology or Fibrosis.
- Experience with Cloud Services and Workflow Languages: Experience working with cloud services (e.g., AWS) and workflow languages (e.g., NextFlow).
