Risk and Compliance Governance Specialist

Position Overview:

The Governance, Risk & Compliance Adviser will be an integral part of the Risk Governance & Compliance team, reporting directly to the Risk Governance & Compliance Manager. This role is situated within the UK Power Networks Services division.

Compensation: The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary along with a performance-based bonus. The position offers a flexible working arrangement following the initial probation period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enhance the internal control framework related to project governance, risk management, and compliance.
  • Manage the Project Governance and Control framework, ensuring adherence and accurate reporting throughout project lifecycles.
  • Develop and maintain an accessible online governance tool that ensures transparency and auditability.
  • Organize and manage the risk management framework to identify and mitigate business risks effectively.
  • Regularly review and update the online risk management platform to ensure all risk controls are current and actionable.
  • Facilitate risk assessments during the tendering process as a designated risk manager.
  • Collaborate with corporate governance teams to align on compliance requirements and provide assurance for UKPN Services.
  • Conduct training sessions on governance, risk, and compliance topics for staff at various levels.
  • Coordinate annual submissions for legislative and regulatory compliance, ensuring all action plans are executed.
  • Support the development and testing of business continuity plans in line with company policies.
  • Lead minor improvement projects as needed.
  • Assist the Risk, Governance & Compliance Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities and provide timely reports.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in governance, risk, compliance, and business continuity management.
  • Familiarity with the construction or infrastructure sectors is preferred.
  • Background in risk management practices and terminology.
  • Experience in infrastructure project risk management and Quantitative Risk Analysis is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of governance and control processes.
  • Ability to analyze issues, explore alternatives, and apply sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Strong presentation skills.
