Asset Management Specialist

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asset Management Officer to join their Estates team. This is a development role that will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment and develop their skills and knowledge in specialist engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the delivery of specialist engineering activities to all wards and departments within the Trust, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and legal requirements.
- Support the Senior Specialist Engineer in ensuring competency is maintained across the in-house team by delivering specialist engineering training and mentoring.
- Support in the development of technicians and apprentices, compiling and monitoring training programs.
- Participate in the Estates out of hours on-call arrangements and undertake Authorised Person responsibilities for specific engineering systems as required.
- Qualified to Degree Level in Engineering/Building Services or HNC/HND Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with significant management experience.
- Experience in Operational maintenance in a Mechanical, Electrical or Building service discipline or equivalent significant experience.
- Be at or working towards Membership of a Professional Institution e.g. IHEEM, IEE, IET IMechE, CIBSE.
- ISOH Managing Safely.
- A recognised training qualification/apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Services.
- Legionella awareness L8 - Responsible Person.
- NEBOSH - Level 3 Certificate.
- Appointments as an Authorised/Competent person.
- Experience in specialist engineering in installation and maintenance systems.
- Experience of supervisory responsibility for directly employed staff and contractors working on defects and PPM on technical electrical, mechanical, or building disciplines found in an acute environment.
- Experience of Working in an Authorised Person role (e.g Medical Gas, High Voltage).
- Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems of a highly complex and contentious nature.
- Ability to receive and interpret highly complex and contentious information of a sensitive nature and being able to communicate the magnitude of the situation with non-estates professionals so that the risks are clearly understood without causing panic.
- Strong communication skills, for effective working relationships throughout the organisation including presentation to Executive Directors.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Highly organised approach to work.
- Strong IT/PC Skills to be able to develop and operate the various computer systems.
- Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and make judgement across a wide range of highly complex estates issues taking into account legislation, expert advice and conflicting demands.
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation and develop work plans and policies.
- Ability to react to unplanned events/emergencies in a controlled planned manner and communication of issues and progress as per the agreed communications policy.
- Ability to cope with and manage demanding and stressful scenarios.
- Ability to undertake performance monitoring fault diagnosis using fine tools and equipment.
- A dedicated and committed member of a team.
- Flexible individual who can cope with new and changing demands.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Approachable and tactful.
- Ability to work flexibly as needs arise, and ability to work overtime at short notice.
- Able to prioritise works and manage conflicting priorities.

- Has the ability to travel, as will be required to work at other sites.
- Ability to work out of hours, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as needs arise.
- Able to undertake all duties as detailed in the job description.
- To be able to participate on the Estates Management On Call Rota if required to do so.
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with Trust's Values And Behaviours.
