Job Title: ICA Technician

We are currently recruiting for an ICA Technician (Instrument, Control and Automation) to join our team at Thames Water.

About the Role

As an ICA Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining approximately 250 waste pumping stations in the Camberley and surrounding areas. Your primary goal will be to ensure that these assets are available and running, helping us deliver life's essential service to our customers, communities, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on defective equipment.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team, alongside operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians.
  • Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards and diagnosing and repairing faults in systems and plants.
  • Investigating plant failures and implementing subsequent repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge.
Requirements
  • Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems and communication network systems, instrumentation including flow, level, pressure, etc.
  • Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs) and other starting methods for motors/pumps.
  • Ideal qualifications include HNC level or City and Guilds Part 2 or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control, and automation discipline.
  • Preferable for you to have 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification and 3-phase electrical knowledge or qualifications.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.
  • The ability to deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team.

  • A competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave - 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays).
