Patient Care Support Specialist

Position Overview
We are a dynamic healthcare facility seeking a Patient Care Support Specialist to become a vital part of our dedicated team.
The Patient Care Support Specialist will assist in managing the treatment area and perform essential nursing-related tasks.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with electronic medical record systems would be beneficial. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, possess strong organizational skills, and communicate well within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct phlebotomy procedures, including the collection and appropriate dispatch of laboratory specimens such as blood, urine, and swabs as directed by healthcare professionals.
2. Perform blood pressure assessments and manage the fitting and removal of 24-hour blood pressure monitoring devices.
3. Provide health advice to patients regarding minor health issues, health promotion, and disease prevention.
4. Support the nursing team in various clinics, including antenatal, diabetic, flu, minor operations, and contraceptive services.
5. Assist with basic wound care and the removal of sutures or clips, under the guidance of nursing staff.
6. Conduct NHS Health Checks as part of routine patient care.
7. Administer vaccinations, including flu, pneumonia, and B12 injections, following appropriate training.
8. Aid in the management of the treatment area, including inventory control and ordering of medical supplies and educational materials.
9. Ensure that all medical equipment is properly maintained, regularly checked, and that clinical rooms are well-stocked with necessary supplies.
10. Monitor fridge temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards.
11. Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization in all work areas, adhering to the Practice Infection Control Policy.
12. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required to maintain high standards of care.
