We seek individuals who are dedicated to public service, organized, and confident in their decision-making abilities. You should be capable of working independently, making recommendations based on thorough evidence assessment, and committed to addressing the diverse needs of victims and witnesses.
We have multiple openings available, providing the chance to join dynamic teams where you will receive guidance and support to manage your caseload and professional growth. Initially, you will spend time in the office for team integration and training, with the flexibility to work remotely. Job Responsibilities
As a Case Preparer, your primary responsibility will be to prepare cases thoroughly for court while interacting sensitively with victims and witnesses.
You will manage a designated caseload, producing high-quality case files that compile the best available evidence from diverse sources. This will involve direct communication with victims and witnesses of crime.
Collaboration with colleagues across the organization will be essential as you prepare evidence in suitable formats, ensuring cases are presented effectively for our prosecutors. You will liaise closely with Crown Counsel, law enforcement, defense attorneys, and other support services to guarantee the timely and accurate delivery of evidence, keeping all relevant parties informed about case progress.
In this role, you may also be assigned to handle serious crimes, fatalities, and sexual offenses. Candidates should be prepared for such responsibilities. Support for vicarious trauma and in-house training will be provided to assist successful applicants.
General Duties:
Direct and manage investigations in collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies.Adhere to protocols and key policies to fulfill business objectives.Effectively prepare cases for court proceedings.Engage sensitively with victims, witnesses, and bereaved families.Continuously adapt to process changes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.Specific Responsibilities:
Efficiently prepare serious, complex, and high-level solemn cases within set timelines.Regularly collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Crown Counsel, law enforcement, various agencies, victims, and witnesses to facilitate case progression.Analyze evidence critically, providing guidance to stakeholders when additional evidence is necessary.Present well-founded recommendations to Principal Deputes and Advocate Deputes based on your findings.Prepare precognitions in agreed formats using Microsoft Office and other internal software, ensuring high standards of data management.Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Strong communication skills are crucial, allowing you to tailor your approach to different audiences. You will encounter witnesses and victims who have experienced trauma and may be exposed to sensitive material. Therefore, resilience, empathy, and compassion are vital attributes.
In your evidence preparation, you will need to demonstrate analytical depth and objectivity. Confidence in decision-making and disciplined organization to meet deadlines are also essential.
