About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team at Balfour Beatty. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for delivering complex financial management projects and providing commercial input to value engineering reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial management of major infrastructure projects, including tendering, negotiating, and agreeing contracts.
  • Provide commercial input to value engineering reviews and support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data, and contract reviews.
  • Manage the preparation of target costs for projects, including associated risks, and prepare monthly CVR and commercial reports.
  • Report and explain commercial progress to senior divisional staff and establish client supply chain requirements.
  • Advise on alternative forms of contract and procurement arrangements and apply legislation, liaising with legal experts as needed.
  • Oversee and give advice on training and development, including professional qualifications, and maintain a personal development plan to ensure continuous personal and professional development.
  • Proactively develop, mentor, and coach immediate and wider team members to ensure development of talent and succession within the team.
Requirements
  • MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or experience.
  • Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management, and team leadership.
  • Extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility, and a talent for negotiation.
  • Track record of managing and developing a commercial team and being a Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
