Job Title: Senior Housing Standards Officer

Are you passionate about ensuring that housing standards are met and that residents are protected from substandard living conditions? Do you have experience in housing enforcement and a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policies?

We are seeking a Senior Housing Standards Officer to join our team in King's Court Council Offices, King's Lynn. As a key member of our Housing Standards team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of housing enforcement activities, including inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.

You will work closely with our Housing Standards Officers to ensure that all enforcement activities are carried out in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures. You will also be responsible for providing guidance and support to the team, as well as contributing to the development of policies and procedures for housing enforcement activities.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of housing legislation and current best practice, as well as experience of inspection and enforcement for housing standards. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write concise reports and negotiate effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of housing enforcement activities, including inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions
  • Work closely with Housing Standards Officers to ensure that all enforcement activities are carried out in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to the team, as well as contribute to the development of policies and procedures for housing enforcement activities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including residents, landlords, and other agencies
  • Ensure that all enforcement activities are carried out in a fair and transparent manner

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of housing legislation and current best practice
  • Experience of inspection and enforcement for housing standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write concise reports and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
