Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Resource Provision (ARP) unit in Tottenham, London. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs to grow and develop.

About the Role:
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCo to create personalized learning plans for each student, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Provide essential support in the classroom to help students engage, progress, and become more confident.
  • Assist with lessons that match the curriculum and adapt teaching methods to cater to different students' needs.
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support to students, using various teaching methods to promote learning.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where students can learn, feel good about themselves, and grow.
  • Support students who may struggle with their emotions or behavior, using effective strategies to calm situations and promote positive interactions.
  • Collaborate with various teams, parents, and external groups to ensure students receive the necessary support.
Requirements:
  • Teaching Assistant qualification at Level 2 or 3, with experience supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Good knowledge of SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and respond to students' needs.
  • A kind and patient approach, with a strong desire to help students succeed and feel positive about themselves.
  • Bonus points for knowledge of Makaton or PECS communication methods.
