Spencer Clarke Group is seeking a Lead Communications Strategist to collaborate with our esteemed local authority client.

Contract Duration: Initial engagement for 3 months, with potential for extension.

Compensation: Starting at £20.31+ per hour, negotiable based on expertise.

Role Overview:

  • Deliver exceptional communications support to elected officials and the council's executive team, including the Management Board and other senior managers.
  • Enhance awareness and accessibility of council services while improving public perception among residents and stakeholders.
  • Safeguard the council's reputation by effectively managing media inquiries, providing accurate information and approved statements to uphold the council's position. Proactively engage with media outlets by distributing press releases and narratives to diverse audiences, aiming to enhance the council's brand and inform the public.
  • Oversee the smooth execution of planned communications initiatives, adhering to budgets and objectives as outlined in the annual communications strategy, while remaining adaptable to evolving circumstances.

Candidate Profile:

  • Possess a degree or equivalent professional experience in a communications capacity for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the media, public relations, and marketing sectors.
  • CIM or CIPR certification is advantageous.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge in crafting and executing campaigns and project plans within an integrated marketing framework, while adhering to council guidelines and practices.
  • Maintain awareness of local government dynamics and current events, ensuring appropriate responses to campaigns.
