About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Bird in Hand Winery and play an integral part in continuing to shape our future direction as a world-class winery and venue.

**Key Responsibilities:**

Forward Planning
  • Prepare and maintain budgets, including monthly reporting against them; profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain capital budget.
  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
  • Develop and utilise forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organisation's operations and business plans.
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., opening new operations, asset acquisition, new service launches).
  • Participate in policy development as a member of the senior management team.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the ED and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas.
Accounts
  • Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
  • Oversee the treasury department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting to financial partners.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external agencies.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Report risk issues to the ED.
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, finance or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years experience in a senior financial managerial position.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner.
