About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker to join our Special School Nursing Team. The successful candidate will work primarily in Henry Tyndale School, Farnborough, providing specialist support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and complex health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Assist qualified staff in the provision of care as detailed in individual care plans, undertaking tasks that facilitate the smooth running of the ward/community as directed by qualified staff.

Develop rapport with patients and treat all patients, carers, and staff with dignity and respect.

Work with nursing staff, multi-disciplinary teams, and other allied health professionals to ensure a supportive and caring learning environment.

Actively participate in team handovers, providing verbal reports as required, and use interpersonal and communication skills to de-escalate and reduce aggressive behavior if encountered from patients and carers.

Implement agreed standards of care provision in line with local Ward/Unit/community and Trust policies, adhering to all Trust Policies and Procedures.

Make appropriate objective written entries in patient records, for validation by qualified staff, to ensure that these are accurate and up to date.

Using judgment skills, seek feedback from patients to inform qualified staff to enable the development of services.

Be aware of own limitations, seek support if and when the need arises, and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Periodically collect specimens, which may be body fluids, Phlebotomy, i.e., blood, urine samples.

About Us

Solent NHS Trust is working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health, and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. The new Trust will be formed by the end of 2024, and the aim is for more consistent care, more equitable access to services, and a more sustainable workforce and services.

The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities. Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) known as TUPE on the day the trust is formed.
