Empower Family Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join our team in Somerset, supporting foster carers across the Southwest region.

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of children placed in foster care. You will be responsible for recruiting, assessing, and monitoring foster carers, providing them with ongoing support and guidance to ensure they meet the highest standards of care.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, assess, and monitor the suitability of foster carers.
  • Support foster carers in demonstrating their competence against training standards.
  • Provide regular supervision sessions aligned with agency operational standards.
  • Conduct support visits to foster families.
  • Contribute to Foster Carer Annual Reviews within established timeframes.
  • Ensure foster carers have accurate and up-to-date Foster Care Agreements.
  • Identify learning and development needs for foster carers.
  • Undertake initial visits and carer assessments.
  • Attend meetings to support foster carers, children, and young people.
  • Assist in the delivery of training programs for foster carers.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours duty system on a rota basis.

We are looking for:

  • A qualified Social Worker with a CQSW, Diploma in Social Work, or BA in Social Work.
  • Proven experience working with children and families.
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to children and families.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-reliance.
  • A flexible approach to providing support to foster carers.
  • A commitment to personal development and training.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum based on a full-time contract (40 hours per week).
