Clinical Assessor Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Assessor to join our team in supporting the Victims' Payment Board (VPB) in delivering the clinical assessment service for the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme.

About the Role

As a Clinical Assessor, you will be responsible for reviewing medical evidence from applicants to determine the permanence of their condition and percentage disablement. You will play a proactive role in seeking additional medical evidence as required and gathering relevant information from applicants and representatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet face-to-face with applicants to review medical evidence and determine the permanence of their condition and percentage disablement
  • Seek additional medical evidence as required from GPs, other healthcare professionals, or services
  • Gather relevant information from applicants and representatives and analyse and interpret clinical information
  • Compile comprehensive reports in a professional and concise manner to support the VPB's decision-making
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience
  • Fully registered with the NMC without sanction or conditions of practice
  • Demonstrable background in a Mental Health/Psychiatric specialty
  • Ability to work at pace, set boundaries, manage conversations, and keep to timescales
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures
  • Report writing skills with an ability to deal with a high percentage of work using a laptop and IT systems
What We Offer
  • Competitive basic salary of £38,500
  • Opportunity to increase salary up to £41,400 plus up to 10% bonus
  • Initial 6 weeks' training and ongoing support provided (fully paid)
  • Flexible work patterns - work between 8am and 8pm, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
  • Hybrid working - predominantly working from home, with clinic visits required
  • 23 days' holiday
