Position Overview:
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant focused on SEN, you will be instrumental in guiding students with autism through their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personalized Support: Provide individualized assistance to students, ensuring that their unique learning objectives and requirements are met.
- Classroom Support: Collaborate with the classroom teacher to foster an inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning, which includes aiding in lesson preparation and managing classroom dynamics.
- Behavioral Guidance: Employ strategies to assist students in managing their behavior, developing coping mechanisms, and encouraging positive peer interactions.
- Communication Enhancement: Support the development and execution of communication strategies, utilizing visual aids, social narratives, and other resources to facilitate understanding and expression.
- Monitoring Progress: Regularly evaluate and report on student progress, collaborating closely with educators, families, and specialists to modify support plans as necessary.
Qualifications We Seek:
- Experience: Previous experience in working with children with autism or in a special education environment is essential. Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or similar methodologies is advantageous.
- Educational Background: A relevant qualification in special education, teaching assistance, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
- Empathy and Understanding: A sincere passion for working with children with autism, combined with the patience and insight necessary to support their individual needs.
- Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, educators, and families.
