Assistant Management Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our UK Shared Services Team at QinetiQ. As an entry-level opportunity, this role offers excellent career prospects and support for your professional qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, taking ownership and accountability for the delivery of high-quality financial services.
- Assist in delivering month-end close and reporting under the supervision of a Management Accountant.
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other relevant entries.
- Attend project and cost centre reviews, providing relevant feedback and challenging numbers.
- Prepare balance sheet packs, AP06 and AP12 statutory audit packs, and monthly QinetiQ management packs.
- Support cost centre managers, project managers, and management accountants in their roles.
- Assist in forecasting and budget rounds, gaining experience and taking a lead when ready.
Requirements
- Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for working at a cross-functional level.
- Self-motivated, thorough, disciplined, and detail-focused.
- Excellent analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt the pace of delivery to meet business requirements with a continuous improvement approach.
- Highly customer-focused in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Qualifications
- To have attained or be working towards an accountancy-level qualification, such as CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or AAT (or equivalent), or provide evidence of recent relevant experience in a similar role.
