Senior Power Platform Engineer

Working Hours: 45 hours per week

Salary: Up to £80k based on experience

Project Partners is seeking a skilled Power Platform Engineer to enhance our established infrastructure and civil engineering operations.

Role Overview

The Senior Engineer will be tasked with the development and upkeep of internal software solutions that facilitate the operations of the organization, its partnerships, clients, and associated businesses. Focusing on Microsoft Power Platform, the engineer will lead the development of innovative construction solutions, playing a pivotal role in advancing technology within the company. This position is primarily technical, yet experience in managing user needs and collaborating with business stakeholders, as well as overseeing a small team of developers, will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain PowerApps solutions utilizing the low-code platform. This includes crafting user interfaces, integrating with various data sources, implementing business logic, and ensuring applications meet functional specifications.
  • Database Design and Management: Create and manage SQL databases for application data storage. Responsibilities include designing database schemas, defining table relationships, optimizing performance through indexing, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Data Integration: Integrate multiple data sources, such as SQL databases, SharePoint lists, Excel files, and external APIs. This may involve configuring data connections, managing data imports/exports, and executing data transformation processes.
  • Business Logic Implementation: Develop complex business logic within PowerApps using formulas and expressions. This includes validating user inputs, performing calculations, enforcing security protocols, and automating workflows.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance the performance of applications and SQL databases to ensure quick response times and efficient resource usage. This may involve tuning SQL queries and optimizing data retrieval methods.
  • Security Implementation: Establish security protocols to safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access to PowerApps and SQL databases. This includes configuring role-based access controls and implementing data encryption.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct testing of PowerApps solutions to identify and rectify issues, ensuring functionality across various devices and screen sizes. This may involve unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Documentation and Governance: Document the design, implementation, and configuration of PowerApps solutions and SQL databases. This includes creating technical documentation and user manuals to facilitate effective application use, while ensuring adherence to governance processes for development and production releases.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders, including business users and project managers, to gather requirements, provide project updates, and solicit feedback. Strong communication skills are essential for clarifying needs and resolving challenges.
  • Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in PowerApps, SQL, and related technologies to enhance skills and improve solution quality. This may involve attending training sessions and engaging with online communities.
  • Perform any other duties relevant to this position.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Power Platform, SQL, HTML, DAX, and a comprehensive understanding of their capabilities.
  • Experience managing projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Background in the water utilities construction sector or a related field.
  • Versatile developer with significant experience in low-code and ideally pro-code development using MS PowerApps.
