Position: Senior Power Platform Engineer

Work Schedule: 45 hours per week

Project Partners is seeking a skilled Power Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team within a well-established infrastructure and civil engineering firm.

Position Objective

The Senior Engineer will be tasked with the development and upkeep of internal software solutions that facilitate the operations of the organization, its joint ventures, clients, and affiliated businesses. Focusing on Microsoft Power Platform, the engineer will lead the charge in creating innovative construction technology solutions. While this role is primarily technical, experience in managing user requirements and engaging with business stakeholders, as well as overseeing a small team of developers, will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain PowerApps solutions utilizing the low-code platform. This includes crafting user interfaces, integrating with various data sources, implementing business logic, and ensuring the application aligns with functional specifications.
  • Database Design and Management: Create and manage SQL databases for application data storage. Responsibilities include designing the database schema, defining table relationships, optimizing performance through indexing, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Data Integration: Integrate multiple data sources, such as SQL databases, SharePoint lists, Excel files, and external APIs. This may involve configuring data connections, data import/export, and executing data transformation processes.
  • Business Logic Implementation: Develop complex business logic within PowerApps using formulas, functions, and expressions. This includes validating user inputs, performing calculations, enforcing security protocols, and automating workflows.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance the performance of solutions and SQL databases to ensure rapid response times and efficient resource utilization. This may involve tuning SQL queries and optimizing data retrieval methods.
  • Security Implementation: Establish security measures to safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access to PowerApps and SQL databases. This includes configuring role-based access controls and implementing data encryption.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct testing of PowerApps solutions to identify and rectify bugs, ensuring functionality across various devices and screen sizes. This may involve unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance testing.
  • Documentation and Governance: Document the design, implementation, and configuration of PowerApps solutions and SQL databases. This includes creating technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials to assist users in effectively utilizing the applications.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders, including business users, project managers, and fellow developers, to gather requirements, provide project updates, and solicit feedback. Strong communication skills are essential for clarifying requirements and resolving issues.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest advancements in PowerApps, SQL, and related technologies to enhance skills and improve solution quality. This may involve attending training sessions and participating in online communities.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other responsibilities relevant to this position.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in digital transformation initiatives.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Power Platform, SQL, HTML, DAX, and a comprehensive understanding of their capabilities.
  • Proven experience managing projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience in the water utilities construction sector or a related field.
  • Versatile developer with significant experience in low-code and ideally pro-code development using MS PowerApps.
