Job Title: Deputy Chief Information Security Officer
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Information Security Officer to join our team at the Ministry of Justice. As a key member of our Information Security Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our systems and data.
Main Responsibilities:- Lead the Information Security Team: You will be responsible for leading a team of information and cyber security specialists, prioritizing work, and developing and implementing a team strategy to improve the department's cyber security.
- Provide Operational Services: You will provide high-quality operational services, such as the security single point of contact, helping colleagues across the entire MoJ get swift resolution of their security queries, and enabling learning and improvement from it.
- Develop Security Guidance and Standards: You will lead the team in developing alternative ways to communicate their expertise - such as via policy, guidance, blogs, training etc. - to help other teams do effective security themselves, and to enable the team to focus on the highest priority tasks.
- Lead the Security Culture Programme: You will lead the security culture programme to improve all aspects of security culture across the MoJ. This will involve overseeing the production of briefing materials for senior stakeholders, rolling out a programme of education and awareness, overseeing the production and publication of guidance and policies for all users, and implementing effective ways to track and measure the success and impact of the programme.
- Engage with Other Business Areas: You will engage effectively with other business areas and the MoJ's public bodies to understand their security needs, and help them to embed effective cyber security into their work, aligned to the MoJ's cyber security strategy.
- Provide Strategic Input: You will provide strategic input into material that supports security governance in the MoJ and across government, including overseeing responses to data requests, preparing financial bids, providing updates to governance boards, and contributing to agencies' Audit, Risk and Assurance Committees' discussions on cyber security.
- Team Leadership: You will have the ability to inspire and coordinate a diverse team of security specialists, helping them to be their best both as individuals and as part of a wider team.
- Enabling and Informing Risk-Based Decisions: You will work with team members to identify risks and communicate them effectively to decision makers, and help inform prioritization of wider departmental work to ensure security improvements are given due consideration.
- Specific Technology and Security Understanding: You will have a good knowledge of system architectures, able to understand and articulate the impact of vulnerabilities on existing and future designs and complex systems, and can articulate an appropriate response.
- Communication: You will be an articulate and effective communicator across a range of formats, able to convey complex topics with ease to a variety of audiences and persuade others of the importance of security matters.
- Analysis: You will be able to apply the approach to real problems and consider all relevant information, applying appropriate rigour to ensure a full solution is designed and achieves the business outcome.
- Understanding Security Implications of Transformation: You will be able to interpret and apply understanding of policy and process, business architecture, and legal and political implications to assist the development of technical solutions or controls.
- Working Knowledge of ISO 27001: You will have a working knowledge of ISO 27001.
