Position Overview
Your Role:
As a Lead Procurement Specialist, you will be an integral part of a dynamic Supply Chain team, providing a platform for career advancement and professional growth. Your primary responsibility will encompass mechanical components, overseeing commercial, technical, strategic, and quality dimensions of supplier selection, new product introduction, supplier production process validation, cost negotiations, and supplier relationship enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate commodity strategies that align with technology roadmaps, cost objectives, and scheduling needs, leveraging industry insights to guide Design Engineers and Product Managers.
- Identify, assess, and authorize new suppliers to fulfill current and prospective project and business demands.
- Oversee the integration of new components into the supply chain, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and project timelines.
- Conduct cost negotiations, manage supplier-related project timelines, and ensure suppliers implement validated production methodologies.
- Facilitate early supplier engagement initiatives, including Design for cost and quality, utilizing expertise to influence new design directions.
- Lead supplier resource allocation projects.
- Drive value engineering and quality enhancement initiatives.
- Cultivate supplier relationships and foster supplier development.
- Enforce, maintain, and monitor contractual agreements and statements of work to safeguard the interests of Raymarine.
- Oversee supplier implementation of engineering modifications for designated commodities and products.
- Accountable for all facets of supplier quality, including performance measurement and reporting to senior management. Resolve quality issues promptly and effectively, and promote proactive quality improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
- Utilize commodity knowledge and production expertise to minimize costs, reduce cycle times, and enhance efficiencies throughout the supply chain.
- Serve as the center of excellence for all quality, engineering, and commercial aspects of supplier management for assigned commodities.
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to assigned commodities, such as ROHS, REACH, and other pertinent environmental legislation.
- Primary responsibilities will focus on mechanical commodities, with opportunities to expand experience into additional product categories.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Preferred higher education qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong enthusiasm for procurement and supply chain management.
- Alternatively, a business-related qualification with a keen interest in engineering.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Proven experience in commodity management.
- Excellent negotiation capabilities.
