Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Occupational Health and Safety Manager in providing specialized advisory services across the organization.
  • Deliver guidance on safe work practices and procedures.
  • Support the development and review of risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Advise on substances regulated by COSHH, including assistance with assessments and documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits, engaging with management as necessary.
  • Provide recommendations regarding display screen equipment and conduct DSE assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies to safeguard employees and the public, reporting any violations.
  • Make informed decisions on occupational health and safety matters, guiding managers on relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents to implement effective control measures and prevent future occurrences.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture through effective communication and awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance within departments under your purview, contributing to the development of organization-wide health and safety policies.
  • Facilitate health and safety training compliance through in-person sessions at all levels, developing training materials aligned with current legislation.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and codes of conduct regarding health and safety and equal opportunities.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with teams, supporting them in achieving their objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Valid full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proven experience in addressing occupational health and safety issues and providing exceptional guidance.
  • Experience in developing and implementing health and safety training programs.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a health and safety professional.
  • Experience in investigating workplace incidents and implementing preventive measures.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Aptitude for delivering engaging health and safety training courses.
  • Proficient in conducting audits and inspections, producing detailed reports.
  • Level 3 Qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate).
  • Professional membership, such as IOSH – Technical Member (TechIOSH) or higher.
