Job Overview
The Information Access Coordinator will play a vital role within the Information Governance (IG) Department, which includes the Head of Information Governance, IG Manager, Deputy IG Manager, IG Officers, and IG Administrators/SAR.The IG Department is tasked with overseeing the Trust's adherence to the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, and Access to Health Records Act, along with fulfilling national standards and legal obligations.
The primary objective of this position is to assist IG Management by managing requests made under the Freedom of Information Act and ensuring that responses are delivered in accordance with the Act's stipulations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide essential support to guarantee that operational procedures are adhered to when information requests under the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act are received. Collaborate with staff throughout the Trust to ensure compliance with legal timelines. Work collaboratively within the IG team to safeguard information that is exempt from disclosure as mandated by law. Assist in processing requests for information sharing to facilitate informed decision-making. Support the IG Manager in recognizing applicable exemptions and determining when the Public Interest Test should be applied. Aid those involved in fulfilling information requests to ensure compliance with the Act's requirements. Foster relationships with other NHS Trusts and public organizations to ensure a unified approach to broad FOI requests and to share insights gained. Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems related to FOI, ensuring that disclosures are prepared for publication on the Trust's public website. Identify patterns in information requests and assess whether the requested information could be made more accessible in the future. Generate statistical reports detailing the volume of requests received, response times, and their complexity. Continuously develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and relevant legislative changes. Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by the IG Manager.About the Organization
