Job Title: Section Engineer

As a Section Engineer at Randstad Construction & Property, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing engineering works within a specific section of the HS2 project. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with HS2 standards, design specifications, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage engineering works, ensuring quality control and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Site Coordination: Supervise and coordinate setting out, surveying, and construction activities on site.
  • Resource Management: Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, and other teams to plan and organise resources, materials, and labour.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Oversee the production of accurate and timely reports, including daily diaries, progress reports, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring work is delivered to the required standard and within budget and programme.
  • Design Review: Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying any discrepancies and resolving them with the design team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote innovative engineering solutions to enhance project delivery.
Requirements:
  • Education: Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a Section Engineer role on major infrastructure or rail projects.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate site teams and subcontractors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in setting out, surveying, and using engineering software such as CAD and GPS equipment.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Thorough understanding of construction methodologies and HS2 project requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in managing technical issues on site.
  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card and full knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices.
