Farm Assistant Job Description

Larkin Farm is a state-of-the-art facility located at Abbey Court School, providing a unique learning environment for children with Severe Learning Difficulties.

The farm is home to a diverse range of animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, rabbits, and chickens, offering a rich educational experience for students.

As a Farm Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the welfare of the farm animals, working closely with teaching staff to deliver an education on animal husbandry and horticulture.

Abbey Court School caters for pupils aged 3-19, with a focus on providing a supportive and inclusive environment. The farm is situated at the nursery, primary, and secondary site in Cliffe Road, offering a unique opportunity for students to engage with the natural world.

Comprehensive training and induction will be provided to ensure your success in this role. Due to the complex needs of the pupils, continuity and consistency of support are paramount, and we require a commitment to the full working hours of the post.

On joining, you will be required to undergo continuous professional development to maintain safe working practices and safeguard our children and young people.
