Electrical Systems Technician III

Job Summary:

Norfolk State University's Department of Facilities Management is seeking a highly skilled Electrician Technician III to join their team. As a key member of the facilities management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems across the campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits and equipment to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, including replacing faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other electrical components.
  • Use electrical testing meters to test circuits and verify power, and troubleshoot electrical issues to identify and resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with other facilities management staff to ensure that all work performed meets required safety codes and standards.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to electrical system problems, and provide training and guidance to other staff members as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with significant demonstrated knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components.
  • Valid driver's license, and ability to operate a bucket truck and various types of lifts.
  • Journeyman electrician license, and experience operating and maintaining audio equipment.

Working Conditions:

The Electrician Technician III will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to electrical systems, tools, and equipment. The successful candidate will be required to work at heights, and in confined spaces, and will be expected to follow all safety protocols and procedures.
