About the Role

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our Specimen Reception and Extraction laboratory teams as a Healthcare Science Associate. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receipt, logging, and banking of samples
  • General laboratory duties as required
  • DNA extraction using manual and automated methods
  • Quantifying and normalizing DNA samples
  • Performing routine genetic diagnostic tests such as PCR and cell culture
  • Preparation of solutions and reagents

Person Specification

  • A Levels/NVQ L3 or equivalent qualifications in biological or healthcare sciences
  • Practical biological laboratory work experience
  • Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and to high standards
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and procedures
