Job Title: Alternative Education Support Tutor

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Alternative Education Support Tutor to join our team at Blend Youth Projects. As an Alternative Education Support Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting young people who are socially and educationally excluded, providing them with the opportunity to engage in learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, providing a non-judgmental adult role model and commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Work effectively in individual and team contexts, in conjunction with designated staff and volunteers, in accordance with flexible timetable requirements.
  • Provide consistent and comprehensive evidence of student participation in activities, including photographs, observation records, and witness statements.
  • Support the delivery of SMSC, Accreditation, and Maths and English sessions to groups or individual students, as directed by the group Alternative Education Tutor or the Specialist Teacher.
  • Help to deliver schemes of work, appropriate learning tasks, and vocational activities that meet the needs of the young people, as directed by the group Alternative Education Tutor or the Specialist Teacher.
  • Help supervise students throughout the day, during educational and recreational periods.
Requirements:
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting young people who are socially and educationally excluded.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in individual and team contexts, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of the young people.
  • Knowledge of SMSC, Accreditation, and Maths and English curricula, with the ability to deliver sessions to groups or individual students.
  • Ability to provide consistent and comprehensive evidence of student participation in activities.
