ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Production Manager plays a pivotal role in our Production department, collaborating closely with the site leadership team to drive continuous improvement and achieve operational excellence. The primary responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of Aston Martin products in alignment with our business objectives, focusing on safety, quality, volume, and cost efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily production challenges, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to ensure adherence to the build schedule.
- Provide daily guidance to departmental supervisors to meet production timelines and customer expectations.
- Enhance employee morale through recognition initiatives and effective communication, reflecting Aston Martin's core values.
- Facilitate team activities, including performance reviews and strategic action planning.
- Lead and mentor a diverse workforce, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Conduct audits and manage production and maintenance meetings.
- Support the development of standardized work processes to ensure compliance.
- Regularly evaluate performance and maintain open communication with direct reports, conducting annual performance reviews.
- Analyze monthly budget reports and address any controllable variances.
- Identify and participate in the development of departmental capital expenditures.
- Assess training needs within the department and maintain a comprehensive training calendar.
- Provide coaching and developmental opportunities to enhance team performance and succession planning.
- Manage all KPIs through the SQDCME model (Safety / Quality / Delivery / Cost / Morale / Environment).
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience in a KPI-driven production environment, with in-depth knowledge of best practices in manufacturing, particularly in the automotive sector.
- A formal qualification in engineering or manufacturing, or equivalent practical experience.
- Desirable: Chartered Management Institute, Level 5 Diploma in Management.
- Preferred: Lean Six Sigma certification or similar process improvement expertise.
- This position requires a resilient leader capable of motivating a team to deliver high-quality products efficiently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively to achieve shared goals.
- Build constructive relationships and be attuned to the needs of others.
- Adapt communication styles to suit various audiences.
- Proficient in data analysis and performance metrics, with a focus on KPIs and reducing backorders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to influence and persuade others.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and accountability for outcomes.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet production demands.
- Full driving license required, with the ability to travel as necessary.
