About the RoleAs a Garment Technologist, you'll work closely with our Technical & Compliance team to ensure that all products meet the highest quality standards. You'll be responsible for fit and quality assurance, from prototype to final delivery, and will collaborate with our Design, Product Development, Fabric, and Buying & Sourcing teams to drive product development.
Key Responsibilities- Development
- Collaborate with Design & PD teams on new product development across our range, working across men's, women's, and accessories categories.
- Manage select categories during development stages, from proto 2 to production.
- Initiate wearer trials and follow our wearer trial guidelines on new products.
- Lead fit sessions for your select categories with close support from the Head of Technical & Compliance.
- Manage allocated styles in PLM to update and edit comments for factories.
- Production
- Approve PP samples by measuring, checking BOM's, and ensuring product 'make' aligns with bulk production specs and brand standards.
- Send clear and concise comments to factories, including follow-ups on issues during sealing ahead of production.
- Communicate with supplier partners via phone and videocalls to problem-solve and keep up-to-date with critical path.
- Proactively track timelines ahead of weekly critical path meetings with the Buying & Sourcing team to highlight potential risk areas and find solutions to hit delivery dates.
- Follow grading rules and approve graded specs in readiness for production with suppliers.
- Ensure all products perform at a high level and are fully functional for intended end use.
- Quality
- Analyze base and bulk test reports in line with Finisterre required standards.
- Issue and approve wash care wording and care labels at SEALER stage.
- Build strong relationships with stores, Lived & Loved repairs, and Customer Service to monitor customer feedback and returns.
- Investigate returns data to limit and reduce seasonal returns %.
- Risk assess throughout development to reduce faults and potential returns.
- Liaise with warehouse partners to manage QC communication and inspections.
- Support the Head of Technical & Compliance with projects to improve processes, quality, and fit of products.
- Actively share knowledge with colleagues to build a greater understanding of product construction and fit.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in product impact and understanding of certifications and legislations in our selling territories.
- Continuously develop knowledge of supply chain transparency and product traceability.
- Some foreign and UK travel may be required.
- This role may encompass line management of our junior garment tech and QC team over the next 12 months.
We're looking for a Garment Technologist with significant experience (at least 5 years) in a similar role. You'll require specialist knowledge of certain product categories that fit into our range and be an expert in garment construction, pattern cutting, fit, quality, grading, and wash care creation. You'll also need excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
