Service Designer Opportunity

Are you an experienced Service Designer looking for a new challenge in the public sector? Our client is seeking a skilled Service Designer to join their team on a 6-month contract based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Corporate Development and their team to create a Target Operating Model and provide ongoing design capacity to move projects forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Map complete service processes to align with user needs and business objectives.
  • Revamp existing services or implement new ones, focusing on what is most important to the customer.
  • Communicate the service design methodology and maturity, explaining how it aligns with the existing service design approach and digital service standards.
  • Contribute to any phase of the service lifecycle to ensure continuity and quality.
  • Support the Service Design Community of Practice (CoP), collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with additional tasks as directed by the Lead Service Designer.
Key Applicant Requirements
  • Stakeholder engagement - Effectively listen to technical and business stakeholders, manage expectations, facilitate difficult discussions, and build consensus across diverse teams and services.
  • Leadership and mentoring - Lead by example, guide others to make informed design decisions through mentoring, pairing, and role modeling while sharing best practices.
  • Strategic design and risk management - Visualize and implement end-to-end service designs, apply appropriate risk methodologies, and make decisions involving medium to high risk and complexity, ensuring standards are met.
  • Problem-solving and constraint management - Identify and communicate business constraints, challenge their validity, and work within them to deliver effective solutions.
  • Data-driven design - Utilize both quantitative and qualitative data to inform service design decisions and implement solutions for assisted digital services.
  • Team dynamics and communication - Proactively resolve team issues, engage in timely feedback, and help teams prioritize work to achieve agreed-upon outcomes, including MVP scope.

This role comes with hybrid working, and applicants should live within a commutable distance of Glasgow or Edinburgh. The role is Outside IR35 and comes with a maximum day rate of £475.
