Position: Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Compensation: Starting from £38,734, commensurate with skills and experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee testing and commissioning operations, resolving conflicts, briefing teams, and supervising work.
  • Act as a deputy for the Commissioning Project Leader when necessary, including managing personnel during shifts.
  • Ensure safe operation of plant systems, maintaining awareness of plant conditions and the implications of various activities.
  • Conduct routine tasks with minimal supervision while understanding safety implications in a high-risk environment.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to guarantee that activities are performed safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise and experience.
  • Represent the organization during Contractors Sea Trials and other operational requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in commissioning and/or maintaining electrical, control, and instrumentation systems within a highly regulated sector.
  • Ability to work with detailed documentation, recording, and reviewing results.
  • Comprehension of complex Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems, including drawings, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the commissioning process for new facilities.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation Systems, including Electrostatic Discharges, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, and Fibre Optics.

About the Reactor Test Section Team:

As a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in one of the largest and most intricate engineering programs undertaken nationally. This position offers the chance to work on first-of-class submarines, where you will share your knowledge and mentor less experienced engineers to help achieve our objectives. You will also participate in critical event testing for Dreadnought, focusing on the new reactor plant design.
